What went wrong?

Nina was born 6 weeks premature with congenital CMV (Cytomegalovirus) which has damaged her brain development in the womb. Nina spent first six weeks of her life in an incubator on antiviral treatment and was fed via the NG tube.

Nina’s diagnoses

  • Epilepsy
  • Hearing loss in her left ear
  • Cortical visual impairment
  • Cerebral Palsy (spastic quadriplegia)
  • Global developmental delay

How are we trying to help Nina?

  • We excercise Vojta and Bobath therapy several times a day and visit an experienced physiotherapist twice a week
  • We purchase/borrow special toys for visually and hearing impaired children to stimulate Nina’s senses
  • We visit posture clinic regularly and use different types of equipment to help Nina with the right posture to avoid complications such as scoliosis (we have a special seat JCM, Stabilo Chilli bean vacuum seat, Leckey play mat, stander)
  • We visit hydro-pool on weekly basis
  • We massage Nina after every bath time. ...and we love her

Why do we need your help?

Nowadays, there are many centres, therapies, methods and equipments that could, potentially, help children like Nina. Because every child is unique they also need unique approach and treatment. Therefore it is necessary to try different things and find out which ones are the most beneficial. Unfortunately, trying the therapies and treatments does not come free and often even after finding the right treatment parents face a huge financial strain that does not allow them to help their child. Therefore we need every little help from each one of you. Please! Together we can help Nina! Thank you!
